Worcester's Great British Summer Event

Worcester enjoyed a right royal British weekend in Worcester on 7th and 8th July!
Worcester BID invited you along to celebrate all things British in this special year with a brand new event.
LOADS OF ENTERTAINMENT
A bumper weekend with live music including a Rock Choir, Appleyard Dancers, Elgar Scholl of Music, Cranes School of Music, violinist Shula Oliver, one man mummer performing George and the Dragon,  side shows, an artists market by the riverside, magicians and free face painting with our British themed jubilation of entertainment, as well as free carictures.

SIDESTALLS AND ACTIVITIES
People wandered around the city centre and revelled in the country-fete atmosphere with the bunting flapping and all your favourite games from yesteryear.
- Pin the tail on... the Ginger Pig
- Guess the name of the teddy or the puppy
- Guess how many marbles, smarties, sweets in the jar or how much the chocolate weighs
- Enter the quizzes and competitions
- Hunt for British landmarks in Debenhams
- Victorian seaside amusements
- Giant classic favourite games.
56 businesses were involved in the event through a window dressing competition to offers, themed events, and family fun activities. For a full list of which businesses were involved and what was on where, click on the final pdf file below.

THE WORCESTER FLEA -  8th July only
We stepped back in time and enjoyed the fashions of the 40s, 50s and more as you treat yourself at a flea market in Angel Place.  10.30am - 4.30pm

MERCHANDISE, MEMORABILIA AND YOUR MEMORIES
Red, white and blue... they must be everyones favourite colours this year! And the shop windows in Worcester have been decked out with amazing displays of merchandise on this patriotic theme. Tell us which ones you like best at
www.visitworcester.com/shopwindows

And all around the city you will have seen 15 different heritage photos of Worcester from around the time that the Queen came to the throne in 1952: old shops, grand buildings no longer around and much more - you will be amazed at the changes!. The trail started at the Guildhall (or indeed anywhere en route). Find out more on our Photo Trail page.
And why not send us your best images of the amazing summer of 2012 by entering our Great Worcester Photo Competition. Find out more at  www.visitworcester.com/photocomp2012
For the event people could pay for 3 hours parking and get the rest of the day free from 10am in the following car parks on both Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July: St. Martins Gate, Croft Road, Copenhagen Street and Newport Street. You can also park for a pound all day on Sunday 8th (and on all Sundays) in CrownGate Shopping Centre)
