Corporate Information

Discover Worcester Limited t/a VisitWorcester is a company limited by guarantee whose objects are the development and delivery of tourism and city centre management services for the benefit of stakeholders in the city of Worcester. Between 2007 and 2013, it was  tasked with delivering  elements of the Visitor Economy Strategy commissioned in 2005 by Worcester City Council and with setting up a Business Improvement District for the city centre.

VisitWorcester has run a variety of projects for example city centre audits, it worked with retailers for example on Christmas promotions, Sunday trading and late night opening and is a key partner in various local groups such as the Worcester CityNet Anti-Crime Group and Worcester Nightsafe as well as the Worcester Alliance, Safer Worcester and the Worcester Festival among many others.

VisitWorcester has also run events, for example, the Worcester Christmas Fayre, continental markets and local producer arts' markets, the Strawberry Festival and many more as well as managing other events which take place in the Highway on behalf of Worcestershire County Council.

VisitWorcester provided a range of tourism services including the running of the city's Visitor Information Centre in the city's prestigious Guildhall in High Street. It works closely with tourism businesses in the city and also with Destination Worcestershire, the countywide tourism marketing partnership, on matters related to tourism marketing.

It was funded by three funding streams:
  • A tourism grant from Worcester City Council
  • Core funding from local businesses
  • Earned income from trading activities
 
VisitWorcester is led by a board of voluntary directors with day to day functions carried out by the small staff team.

The organisation's vision for Worcester is:

To help create a first rank cathedral and university city, attractive to visitors, residents and business.
