University of Worcester

The beautiful city of Worcester has always felt like a University city and in 2005 the Privy Council granted full University status to University College Worcester to create the University of Worcester. Since this time the University of Worcester has become the fastest growing university in the country with applications trebling in the last seven years.

The University plays a major part in the creation of a vibrant regional economy and society. The main campus is set in St Johns, the village in the city, where it boasts a green parkland campus with a host of fantastic facilities and modern halls of residence. A £120 million City Campus has been built in the heart of the city on the site of the former Royal Infirmary, one of Worcesters most important buildings and where the BMA (British Medical Association) was founded in 1832. The development includes careful, sympathetic refurbishment to ensure these historic buildings once again contribute to the life of the community. The restored Infirmary is set to be a focal point for excellent education, a centre for the arts, a resource for business and a dramatic fusion of old and new. It is just a few minutes' walk from the St John's campus, with footpaths, cycle routes and public transport linking the two.
