Lobbying

We lobby on your behalf as often the collective voices of businesses get more done than if you were to go it alone.
  • We are seeking your views on the charity fundraisers who line the High Street to help the City Council highlight the issue and look at whether anything needs to be done. If you want to express your views, let us know at [email protected]
  • We have obtained funding from various bodies to fund uniforms, paint and barriers as well as over 41,500 pounds in voluntary contributions towards the BID projects. This is in excess of the 36,000 pounds expected. In year 2 (2011/12) we received an additional 24,300 pounds which will be in addition to our budget in the Business Plan.
  • We raised the issue of a lack of bins in Angel Street which is an area susceptable to late night litter. Worcester City Council have since put in new black and green recycle bins.
  • We have written to businesses affected by a public notice regarding changes to parking in the city centre in Cornmarket, Mealcheapen Street, The Trinity, Trinity Street, St. Swithins Street, and The Cross which they might not have picked up on had they not read the paper or seen the notices on nearby lampposts. We have also written to the Police and City Council about the state of the rear yard serving businesses in Mealcheapen Street, Trinity Street and Queen Street about its poor state. The area was given a major spruce up in December by the Council and Probation Trust and their Community Payback scheme utilising the labour of those undertaking community service.
  • We have also written a paper on the state of Foregate Street to seek what improvements can be made to the state of:
  1. The railway bridge (eg. buddleia, hole in the wall which has since been boarded up and there are large scale plans to refurbish the bridge for the fisrt time since the early 1980s!)
  2. Graffiti (since removed)
  3. Stickers on highways signs
  4. Knocked down bollards (since repaired)
  5. Old Public Notices being put up with tape which peels paint off
  6. The state of the pavement cleansing
