NEW! Download your application form for our fantastic deal that the BID has negotiated with NCP for all day parking for £3 or £55 per month for BID employees only.

NEW! Find out more about our subsidised or free training course project for BID employees.

The Worcester BID launched in April 2010 and we wanted to ensure that business immediately saw a presence through their funding. Consequently we have 3 Street Rangers who will work between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday. Their training has included a week in Rugby where they shadowed the Rangers in their town centre BID and were taught a wide variety of skills. They have also undertaken first aid training and they all passed their HSE approved Emergency First Aid at Work course.

2 Taxi Marshals are also working as a result of the BID. They will work in The Cross. They will operate on Friday night / Saturday mornings - midnight until 4am and on Saturday night / Sunday mornings from 10pm to 4am. They are connected to the Nightsafe radio system which links them to CCTV, Police and other Nightsafe members. They are there to ensure customers get home quickly and safely in licensed taxis. They ensure that the taxis operate on a meter and do not fix charges, there is no queue jumping or anti social behaviour.

Existing and new members of anti crime group CityNet who are part of the BID enjoy their memberships free of charge from April as one of the BID projects. A new dedicated detective has also been appointed to help reduce stock loss amongst BID businesses who are CityNet members. They have already recovered a large amount of stock from attempted shoplifters. The evening equivalent, Nightsafe, also has businesses who are part of the BID enjoying free membership.

We are also working towards getting a series of events and street entertainment lined up throughout the year. We have already seen  high quality entertainment in Pump Street, Friar Street, The Shambles, Broad Street, Mealcheapen Street, Reindeer Court, Cathedral Plaza Shopping Centre and CrownGate Shopping Centre. The Whizzers, The Flying Buttresses, a face painter, a balloon modeller, a football freestyler, a Man in a Box, and a caricaturist have all been entertaining people in the first few months of the BID.

Invoices for the BID were sent out at the end of March 2010 and included a leaflet outlining what projects the BID will be delivering in year 1. To find out your rateable value in the new 2010 revaluation and how the Valuation Office calculated your figure, visit www.voa.gov.uk
